It’s here! Our annual list comparing prices at all the major grocery stores in Colorado is now available – and this year you can select and print the items you want! We’ve compared prices on turkeys, hams, butter, potatoes, and even more items so that you can see who has the best prices on what you need for your Thanksgiving dinner. Stores that are covered include Albertsons, Costco, King Soopers, Safeway, Sprouts, Sam’s Club, Sunflower Market, Target, and Whole Foods.
Most of these sales run through Thanksgiving Day unless otherwise indicated. Price’s at Sam’s Club and Walmart were checked on Tuesday, and Costco’s prices were checked on Wednesday morning. Please note that prices are subject to change at any time; the current prices at your store override this list.
If you appreciate this list, we’d love to have you say thanks by sharing it on Facebook, Pinterest, or any other sharing site you use! Please do not copy and paste this list and publish it elsewhere – if you’d like to share, please send your friends a link to this page.
If you’re headed to the store, don’t forget to check for printable coupons for items on your list.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Walgreens has butter 1.99 lb
I think I also read that Dollar Tree has pumpkin (for $1 a can).
I think I posted about that a few weeks ago but no one could find it… Might be worth checking, though!
Thank you SO much!!! You did a great job!!!
I love your site!!!
You’re welcome, Robin!
Walmart on Powers/Palmer Park had sweet potatoes for 50 cents a pound yesterday
Wow! This is great. Thank you.
You’re welcome, Terri!
King Soopers has Kroger brand canned pumpkin for $1.39.
Thanks, I’ll update!
I went this morning to the Stetson Hills one in CS and it rang up for $1!
Carrie, yesterday I got an ad for Walmart in with the grocery ads – bit turkey on the front page. The highlights I see are that they have Betty Crocker homestyle stuffing mix for .98 per 6oz box (I didn’t know they made stuffing!), celery stalks (the entire, er, head) for .88, and sweet potatoes for 44 a pound. Ocean Spray cranberry sauce is 1.16, Heinz turkey gravy in a jar is .98, and they have 14 oz. Swanson chicken broth for .50 a can. I don’t buy those last few things, so I don’t know if those are great prices or not. Hope this helps.
Sorry..that should say ‘big’ turkey on the front page – not ‘bit turkey’. Oops!
Wow – this is fantastic! so helpful, thanks!
So very helpful. Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving!
King Soopers on Austin Bluffs/Academy is out of the $7.00 JennyO turkeys.
I really didn’t need a bigger one, but got a 21 lb for $9.00. We’ll have to exchange leftover recipies! Albertsons is matching prices if you try to find a $7.00 turkey.
Have a great Thanksgiving. Thanks to Carrie for all the hard work!
I think Abby may be doing leftover turkey as this week’s What To Make With What’s On Sale!
Kmart has 10lb bags of potatoes for 0.99.
Thank you so much! This is such a helpful article!
Thank you for all your work in collecting this. It’s so helpful!
Nice list but I’m really disappointed you didn’t include Natural Grocers.
Erin – That is great – I just brought 8 lbs at Kings for about $3.00. I’m not one to shop around – just get it over with. lol
Stephanie – I’m not sure where Natural Grocers is, but you could call them.
Or perhaps they have an ad online.
Looking forward to “what to do with leftovers”! I have a good turkey tretrazinni (sp?). My husband promised a batch to his coworkers! Great! Ha! Now I get to make two batches – good thing I have a large turkey!
I was watching the “Chew” today (I’m missing All My Children at that time) and they had what sounded like a good turkey/dumpling soup. But you have to make/have turkey stock.
Since this is my first Thanksgiving here in COS, I have a question…I won’t be cooking this year, but wouldn’t mind buying a turkey for Christmas (or just to have)– is it best to buy it before… or do they go even more on sale after? Thanks!
I had Walmart match the price of the Jennie-O turkey from King Soopers. I had been so disappointed that my King Soopers was all out of the turkeys.
I went to the Albertsons on Centennial and they have their Honeysuckle White young turkeys on sale for .44/lb!! Sweet!
